Elgrand Active Hood Fault

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code doesn't point to a specific sensor, just a general "Active hood fault" message. Is it possible to test these acceleration sensors somehow, or is it more of a replace-and-pray situation?

Given the symptoms and the non-specific error code, the most probable cause is indeed a defective acceleration sensor within the active hood system. While advanced diagnostics could pinpoint the exact sensor, it often requires specialized equipment. Considering the system's purpose (pedestrian safety) and the interconnectedness with the airbag system, I strongly recommend taking your Elgrand to a qualified workshop. They can properly diagnose and repair the issue, ensuring the system functions correctly in a real-world impact situation. The triggered actuators also need replacement. Continuing to drive with such an error message is not advisable.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - a faulty acceleration sensor. They replaced it and the triggered actuators. Total cost was around 315€. Appreciate the help!

Greetings. The "Active Hood" system is a pedestrian safety feature designed to lift the hood in a collision to provide more cushioning. The fact that the spring actuators have triggered, along with the error message and airbag light, strongly suggests an issue within the system. The system likely uses acceleration sensors to detect impacts. If one of these sensors is faulty, it could cause the system to malfunction. Is the error code pointing to a specific sensor or component?
