Elgrand Rear Window Heating Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Nissan Elgrand owner experienced a malfunction with the rear window heating system, accompanied by an error code and issues with the windshield heating. Despite checking the heating coil for damage, no visible issues were found. It was suggested that the problem might be due to a weak battery causing electrical issues. After replacing the battery and clearing the error, the problem was resolved.

Thanks. I haven't done a load test on the battery yet, but I will. Can you tell me which relays control the rear window heating? A wiring diagram would really help.

I can't give you a specific wiring diagram without the exact Elgrand sub-model. The rear window defroster relay is usually in the main fuse box, either in the engine compartment or under the dash. The fuse box cover should say. But it really sounds like the battery. Modern car electrical systems are complicated, so I'd suggest taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnostic.

Thanks for the advice. The workshop found that the battery was the problem. I replaced it, and they cleared the error. It cost 290€ total. Thanks again!

That sounds like it could be an electrical issue, maybe undervoltage. How old is your battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems, including the rear defroster. Check the battery voltage under load. Also, check the fuses and relays for the rear window defroster, look for corrosion.
