Endeavour Fuel Filter Heater Error

I've got a 2021 Ford Endeavour, diesel engine, with about 233258 km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting an error related to the fuel filter heater. This seems to be accompanied by reduced engine power, poor engine response, higher fuel consumption, and even a bit of uneven idling. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Could it be a simple fix, like a bad connection, or is this pointing to something more serious? What could be the implications of not fixing this soon?

Sounds like a pain. Is it worse when the engine is cold? Could be the fuel isn't heating up properly. But why is the consumption so high? Maybe the engine is compensating?

Good question, and yes, it does seem worse on cold starts. So, if the fuel isn't heating properly, does that directly lead to the other symptoms I'm seeing? And if it is just a bad connection like I suspect, is it something I could realistically tackle myself, or am I better off leaving it to the professionals?

Given the symptoms and that it's worse when cold, a faulty fuel filter heater is highly suspect. It might just be a connection, but with diesels, you don't wanna mess around too much if you're not confident. Save yourself a headache and maybe a bigger bill, and get it checked out by someone who knows their stuff. Workshops are much better equipped to diagnose such issues.

Thanks, appreciate the advice! Turns out you were spot on – took it to a local mechanic, and it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to the fuel filter heater. Repair cost me about 95€. Runs like a charm now!
