Endeavour transmission grinding noise

I'm having some serious issues with my 2010 Ford Endeavour with the gasoline engine. I've got 171723 km on the clock. The check engine light and transmission light are both on. It feels like the gearbox slips and shifts really rough, with some nasty grinding noises when it changes gears. I plugged it into a code reader, and it's showing an error stored in the memory. Could it be the torque converter?

Sounds familiar. I have an Endeavour too, and had similar symptoms a while back. Is it only happening when it tries to lock up the torque converter, usually around 80-100 km/h? Does the grinding happen when the transmission is shifting between gears, or all the time?

Yeah, it seems to be worst around those speeds you mentioned. As for the grinding, it's mostly when it's shifting gears. Does that sound like the same torque converter issue you had?

Yep, almost exactly the same. Mine turned out to be a defective lock-up clutch inside the torque converter. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a good workshop, sounds like you might need a transmission repair.

Thanks for the info! I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. It was indeed the torque converter. Repair ended up costing me 2120€, but at least it's fixed now!
