Endeavour VANOS Issue

Hey, I've got a 2006 Ford Endeavour with a gasoline engine and I think the inlet VANOS is acting up. The check engine light is on, and the fuel consumption has definitely increased. I've read a bit about it, and it seems like it could be a faulty camshaft solenoid valve or a power supply issue. Anyone else seen this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra. Turned out to be a clogged VANOS solenoid. It's like a sticky door hinge – doesn't move smoothly. Might be worth checking that out.

Interesting. So, how did you confirm it was the VANOS solenoid? And what did you do to fix it?

A mechanic diagnosed it, honestly. I could have tried cleaning it, but I didn't want to risk making things worse. Replacing it sorted the problem out. Best to get it checked.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the VANOS solenoid and power supply. Turns out it was a faulty camshaft solenoid valve; the whole repair was about 250€ including labor.
