Engine Running Lean
Summary of the thread
The 2013 Renault SM5 was experiencing a lean running condition, characterized by reduced engine power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a faulty catalytic converter or fuel injector. After professional inspection, a defective fuel injector was identified as the cause. Replacing the injector resolved the issue, restoring proper engine function.

I don't have the error codes right now, but with those symptoms, is a faulty fuel injector the most likely cause, or should I look at other things first?

Given the age and mileage, a bad fuel injector is definitely possible. Other things could cause it, but injectors often fail over time. I'd suggest having the fuel injectors professionally inspected and tested. A workshop is probably best for this.

I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed a defective fuel injector. The total cost was 515€, including parts and labor. Replacing the injector fixed the lean running, and the engine runs great now.

The symptoms definitely point to a lean running condition. Has the check engine light been diagnosed? What error codes are present? That would help narrow things down.
