Entourage Active hood fault
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Hyundai Entourage displayed an "Active hood fault" message and an airbag warning light, with error memory indicating a fault in the active hood system and triggered spring actuators. The issue was suspected to be a faulty acceleration sensor, similar to a problem experienced in a Saab 9-3, where a defective sensor sent false signals. The solution involved replacing the defective sensor, which resolved the error.

Thanks for the quick response! You mentioned a crash detection system issue. Could you elaborate a bit more on what exactly failed in your Saab? I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities before taking it to a workshop.

With the Saab, the sensor that detects rapid deceleration and triggers the active headrests went haywire. It wasn't a crash, just a faulty sensor sending false signals, triggering the error messages and activating the safety features. Since your actuators have been triggered, it's very likely a faulty sensor as well, or some communication problem in the circuit. If you want to be sure, you can get the car scanned by a professional, but they will very likely come to the same conclusion. It's probably best to head to a workshop.

Okay, thanks for the info! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective acceleration sensor, just as you suspected. They replaced it, and the error is gone. The repair cost was 315€. I appreciate your help!

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. The error messages were different, but it turned out to be related to the crash detection system. I would imagine it could be the acceleration sensor that is defective in your case. Is the car driving normally besides the warning lights?
