Entourage Mass Air Flow Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2009 Hyundai Entourage experiencing poor gas mileage, engine stalling, and smoke during acceleration, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggest a potential mass airflow sensor issue. It is recommended to check the air filter and read the error code from the check engine light for confirmation. Ultimately, a diagnostic at a trusted shop confirmed the mass airflow sensor was defective, leading to its replacement.

Good point about the air filter. I actually replaced it recently, but the problems started before that. As for the error code, I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Would the error code help to confirm the MAF sensor is the problem?

Yes, the error code would be very helpful. It should provide more specific information about the nature of the problem. Although a defective mass air flow sensor is highly probable, a diagnostic will confirm it. Ultimately, a proper diagnosis at a trusted shop will minimize the risk.

Thanks for confirming my concerns. I took it to a shop, and you were right, the mass air flow sensor was defective. The repair cost me 365€.

The symptoms you describe definitely point towards a mass airflow sensor issue. But without more diagnostic information, it's hard to be certain. Have you checked the air filter recently? A dirty air filter can sometimes cause similar symptoms by restricting airflow, throwing off the air-fuel ratio. Also, have you tried reading the error code from the check engine light?
