Thanks for the suggestion. How did you diagnose the faulty fan clutch on your Saab? I'm not entirely sure how to proceed with testing the electric motor and cooling system relay.

Well, on the Saab, the fan wasn't kicking in at all, even when the engine was hot. I'd suggest checking the wiring harness first. If you're not comfortable with electrics, though, honestly, a workshop might be the safest bet.

Sounds familiar! I had similar overheating issues on my old Saab 9-3. Turned out to be a faulty fan clutch. Have you checked the fan's electric motor and the cooling system relay? Is the fan getting any power at all?
