Entourage smoke exhaust sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Hyundai Entourage is experiencing a warning light on the speedometer and smoke during acceleration. Diagnostics indicate that the issue may be related to the exhaust back pressure sensor, likely due to the vehicle's mileage. A similar case with another vehicle involved using an OBD-II scanner to identify error codes pointing to the exhaust sensor. The recommended solution is to have a qualified mechanic replace the defective sensor to prevent further damage.

Could you elaborate on the diagnostic process you used to pinpoint the issue? What steps confirmed the exhaust sensor as the source of the problem?

The diagnostic process involved using an OBD-II scanner to read the error codes. The error code specifically pointed to the exhaust pressure sensor. Given that information, I would recommend taking it to a qualified mechanic to avoid further damage to your vehicle.

I took the vehicle to a certified repair shop. As you suggested, the issue was indeed a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. The total repair cost was 245€.

I had a similar experience with my 2012 Volvo XC60. A defective exhaust sensor caused similar symptoms, including smoke and warning lights. The car's computer was limiting performance due to incorrect readings from the sensor.
