Envision Oil Pressure Warning: Urgent Sensor Issue Alert

Looking for help with oil pressure warning and error codes on my 2014 Envision. The speedometer warning light came on alongside the oil pressure warning lamp. I suspect the oil temperature sensor might be failing, but want to confirm before replacing parts. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and how was it resolved at the shop? Particularly interested in diagnostic steps and repair costs. Engine is running but concerned about potential damage if I keep driving. Any insights from similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Having some experience working on cars, I encountered a similar issue with my 2012 Enclave last summer. The oil temperature sensor and oil pressure warning lights started acting up just like yours. The root cause turned out to be a faulty wiring connection to the oil sensor. After getting multiple error codes, I took it to a workshop where they diagnosed a loose connector and damaged wiring harness near the engine sensor assembly. The repair involved replacing the wiring harness and securing the automotive sensor connections properly. Total cost was around 95 Euro for parts and labor. Before jumping to conclusions about the oil temperature sensor itself, you should definitely have the wiring connections checked first. These sensors often trigger false warnings due to connection issues rather than component failure. To provide more specific guidance: What engine size does your Envision have? Are you getting any specific error codes? Does the warning come on immediately at startup or after driving for a while? Have you noticed any actual oil pressure or temperature issues? Until you can get it properly diagnosed, keep a close eye on your actual oil level and temperature. If the engine shows any signs of overheating or unusual noise, better stop driving it to prevent potential damage.

Thanks for the feedback. My Envision has done 187247 KM and the problem started right after the last service. The engine oil gauge readings are erratic, going from normal to zero within seconds. The car diagnostics report shows error code P0522, which points to low oil pressure. The engine temperature stays normal though. The warning typically appears after about 10 minutes of driving. I checked all connections around the oil pressure sensor but found no obvious issues. Oil level is good and was just changed at the service. I will have a professional check the wiring harness based on your experience. Better safe than risk engine damage from running with potential oil pressure issues.

Thanks for those additional details about your Envision. The erratic oil gauge behavior combined with error code P0522 matches exactly what I experienced before discovering my wiring harness issue. The timing, starting after a service, is particularly telling. Sometimes during routine maintenance, wiring connections can get disturbed or not properly reseated. Since your engine temperature remains stable while the oil pressure readings fluctuate, this further suggests an electrical rather than mechanical issue. In my case, the temperature sensor readings were also jumping around because the damaged wiring affected both the oil pressure and temp sensor circuits. The fact that your temperature readings stay consistent might mean the issue is isolated to just the oil pressure sensor wiring. A few things to consider: Check if the service center disturbed any wiring during the oil change, The stable engine temperature readings suggest your actual oil pressure might be fine, The P0522 code can be triggered by both actual low pressure or sensor circuit issues Would definitely recommend having the entire sensor circuit tested. When they fixed mine, they found several worn spots in the wiring where it rubbed against engine components over time.

Thanks for the thorough feedback and advice. I got my Envision into the shop today and your suggestion about checking the wiring helped point them in the right direction. The car diagnostics confirmed an issue with the wiring harness near where it connects to the oil pressure sensor. The mechanic found the wiring had been pinched during the last service, causing intermittent connection issues with both the temp sensor and oil pressure readings. They replaced the damaged section of the harness and properly secured all the automotive sensor connections. Total repair cost came to about €200 including parts and labor, which seems reasonable considering the alternative of replacing the entire sensor assembly. The oil gauge is now showing steady readings and all warning lights have cleared. Really appreciate the guidance, saved me from unnecessarily replacing expensive parts when the real issue was just damaged wiring. Will definitely pay more attention to how the wiring gets handled during future service work.
