Eon exhaust back pressure sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Hyundai Eon with a gasoline engine exhibited a warning light and smoke during acceleration, leading to suspicions about the exhaust back pressure sensor. The issue was characterized by the car feeling restricted, akin to "breathing through a straw." Possible causes included emissions-related problems, with suggestions to check sensor connections for corrosion or damage. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the sensor was defective, and replacing it resolved the issue, restoring the car's performance.

Good point about the connections! Where exactly is the exhaust back pressure sensor located on the Eon? Is it easy to get to, or am I going to need specialized tools?

It's usually somewhere along the exhaust pipe, often near the catalytic converter. But honestly, without a lift and some experience, you might be better off having a workshop take a look. Messing with the exhaust system can be tricky. They'll diagnose it properly and replace the sensor if needed. Think of it like your car's vital signs; let the pros read the chart!

Thanks for the advice! You're right, tackling the exhaust system myself might be asking for trouble. Took it to a trusted workshop, and you nailed it – the exhaust back pressure sensor was indeed defective. Cost me 245€ to get it sorted, including the part and labor. Car's running smooth again!

Sounds plausible. Smoke + warning light often points to emissions issues. Have you checked the sensor connections for corrosion or damage? It might be a simple fix, like cleaning them up.
