Eon Overheating Delayed Warm Up

Hey, hoping someone can give me a hand. I've got a 2018 Hyundai Eon with a gasoline engine that's giving me fits. Lately, it's been overheating, and it takes forever for the engine to warm up properly. I'm no expert, but could this be related to the temperature control in some way? Coolant levels seem fine, and I don't see any obvious leaks. The mileage is at 151342 km. Any thoughts?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Hyundai Eon is experiencing overheating and delayed engine warm-up. The issue may be related to the cooling system's temperature regulation, possibly due to a faulty thermostat. The cooling fan appears to be functioning, and there are no obvious coolant leaks. It is suggested to have a professional workshop diagnose and potentially replace the thermostat to resolve the problem.

Greetings. The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a problem within the cooling system's temperature regulation. To confirm, is your Hyundai's cooling fan operating correctly? Have you observed any unusual noises emanating from the engine bay? More importantly, has your vehicle undergone any recent maintenance or repairs affecting the coolant system or the temperature sensor?

Thanks for the quick reply! The cooling fan seems to be running okay, and I haven't noticed any weird noises. The engine overheats even when it's relatively cool outside and I'm not pushing the car hard. As far as recent work, I did top up the coolant about a month ago, but nothing else. How would you check the temperature sensor?

Given the information you've provided, the delayed warm-up coupled with overheating strongly suggests an issue with the thermostat, specifically the map thermostat. While checking the temperature sensor is possible, it typically requires specialized diagnostic tools. The described behaviour aligns with a defective thermostat failing to properly regulate coolant flow. I would strongly advise taking it to a qualified workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair; in similar cases replacement runs around 350€.

Thanks so much for your insight! It sounds like you've hit the nail on the head with the thermostat. I'll get it booked into the workshop ASAP and have them check the map thermostat. Appreciate the help; saved me a lot of headache diagnosing it myself!
