Eon sporadic errors and control unit shutdown

I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Hyundai Eon, gasoline engine. It's got about 107k km on it. Lately, I've been getting sporadic errors in driving mode, and the error lamps light up randomly. Sometimes, the audio/navigation system just quits. It's like some control units temporarily shut down or become unresponsive. I ran a scan, and there's an error stored in the memory. Has anyone experienced something similar? I suspect it may have something to do with a defective cable connection to the BUS system?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Hyundai Eon with 107,000 km is experiencing sporadic errors and random shutdowns of the audio/navigation system, suggesting temporary control unit failures. The issue is suspected to be related to a defective cable connection to the BUS system. A similar problem was resolved by addressing an intermittent connection issue, and it is recommended to have a workshop check the electrical connections to the BUS system.

I had similar symptoms with my Eon. It sounds like your car is acting like a faulty electrical outlet in your home. Just like an outlet that's not properly connected can cause lights to flicker or appliances to malfunction, a loose or corroded connection in your car's wiring harness can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. Was the problem you experienced also in the area of audio/navigation?

Yes, that's right. The audio/navigation system is definitely affected. So, you're saying it was also something related to the wiring? Any more details on which connection it was specifically and the steps you took?

I understand your concern. In my case, it turned out to be an intermittent connection issue. Because modern cars are becoming computers on wheels I would suggest going to a reliable workshop. They have the tools to check all the electrical connections to the BUS system. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the insights! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the BUS system connections, as you suggested. Hopefully, it's a similar fix and not something more complicated. The workshop found out that the cable connection of the control unit was defective, exactly the connection to the BUS system, as suspected. Repair cost: 155€.
