EQC Parking Aid Failure

Thank you for your swift response. I am not entirely sure how to inspect the ultrasonic sensors. Can you perhaps elaborate on what I should specifically look for beyond obvious physical damage or looseness? Are special tools required?

Certainly. While no special tools are absolutely required, a keen eye and a bit of patience will help. Look closely at each parking sensor for any signs of cracking or indentation. Even minor damage can disrupt the signal. Also, inspect the area around the sensor for any dirt or debris that might be obstructing it. If you can safely access the back of the bumper, try gently wiggling the connectors to see if they are loose. However, I would strongly suggest visiting a workshop. The error memory clearly indicates a fault which needs professional attention and diagnosis. Based on your initial estimate of 950€, I believe a defective cable or plug connection is the most likely cause.

I appreciate your advice immensely. I followed your suggestions but ultimately decided to take it to a workshop. As suspected, it was indeed a faulty connector on one of the front parking sensors. The repair cost was close to the estimation. Thank you again.

I experienced something similar with my EQC, although the mileage was significantly lower when it happened. The parking assist system relies heavily on the ultrasonic sensors, often called proximity sensors, for obstacle detection. A faulty connection to one of these parking sensors can indeed disable the entire system. Have you checked if any of the parking sensors are visibly damaged or loose? These sensors are usually located on the front and rear bumpers.
