Equinox brake booster pressure sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Chevrolet Equinox displayed a brake system error and weak braking, with diagnostics indicating a brake booster pressure sensor issue. The problem was suspected to be caused by air in the brake system due to a recent brake bleed. It was advised to have a professional re-bleed the system, as incorrect bleeding can affect sensor readings and potentially involve ABS issues. The issue was resolved by a shop re-bleeding the system and replacing a faulty valve.

So, air in the system affecting the sensor? Is it like the sensor is drowning in air bubbles instead of brake fluid? Should I try bleeding them again myself, or is this beyond a backyard mechanic's abilities?

Yes, air in the system can definitely throw off the sensor readings. In my case, the garage introduced air into the brake lines. I'd advise against DIY unless you're very confident; hydraulic brakes are not something to mess with. Best get it to a workshop and tell them to check it. Could be ABS-related too.

I took it to a shop, and you were spot on – the brake system bleeding was done incorrectly. They re-bled the system and replaced a faulty valve, costing me 90€. Thanks for the advice; it saved me a lot of unnecessary tinkering and potential danger!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo. Same symptoms, same error code. It's often related to air in the system. Did they recently mess with the hydraulics?
