Equinox check engine light air valve
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Chevy Equinox is experiencing a persistent check engine light issue, suspected to be related to the air valve system. The problem may stem from a defective hose connection, particularly those linked to the throttle body and intake manifold. It is advised to inspect these vacuum hoses for leaks, and if unfamiliar with car repairs, consulting a mechanic for a pressure test is recommended. The issue was confirmed to be a defective hose, which was resolved by a professional.

Thanks! That's helpful. But, where exactly should I be looking for the hoses? And how would I know if there's a leak?

The hoses run from the air pump to the air valve, usually a small diameter hose. If you're not too familiar with car repairs, I'd suggest taking it to a trusted mechanic. They can pressure test the system and pinpoint the leak quickly. My defective hose connection was exactly the reason for my problems with the air valve.

Okay, thanks so much for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – it was a defective hose connecting the pump to the valve. Cost me 175€ to get it fixed. Really appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my Equinox. Check your vacuum hoses, especially the ones connected to the throttle body and intake manifold. A leak there can cause all sorts of weird issues, including engine stalling and triggering the check engine light. Have you checked the manifold pressure?
