Equus AC Not Cooling
Summary of the thread
The main issue is that the AC in a 2002 Hyundai Equus is not cooling and doesn't engage, although the blower motor works fine. Possible causes include a faulty valve or a bad pressure switch, which could prevent the system from engaging as a safety measure. It is suggested to check the pressure switch near the condenser before considering more complex repairs. Ultimately, consulting a professional mechanic for accurate diagnostics and repair is recommended.

If it's the pressure switch, would that completely stop the system from engaging, or could it cause other symptoms? Trying to do some basic AC checks before I take it in.

Yeah, a dead pressure switch will usually stop the whole system from engaging as a safety measure. No pressure, no AC! Could be other things, but that's a common one. Honestly though, with AC stuff, it's often best to just bite the bullet and take it to a shop. They have the right tools and knowledge to pinpoint the exact problem. Avoids you wasting time and cash on parts you don't need.

Thanks, I'll book an appointment with a mechanic for AC diagnostics. I'm expecting the repair to be around 1000€.

Could be a valve issue. Has the AC maintenance been done recently? Might also want to check the pressure switch; if that's gone bad, the system won't even try to kick on. Easy enough to find, usually near the condenser. Worth a look before you start tearing things apart!
