Equus Check Engine Light Air Valve
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Hyundai Equus owner experienced a check engine light issue, suspecting a problem with the air valve, likely due to a defective hose connection. Another person suggested inspecting the air intake system, particularly the hose connections around the air supply and throttle body, as loose or cracked hoses can trigger the light. The owner confirmed the issue was indeed a defective hose connection to the air valve, which was resolved by replacing it at a workshop.

Thanks for the tip! I'll double-check those connections. Regarding idle problems, it was occasionally a bit rough, but nothing consistent. Is there a specific area I should focus on when inspecting the air valve itself?

Given the intermittent rough idle and the check engine light, it really does sound like the air valve system. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. Could be a more complex issue than just a simple hose.

You were right; it was a defective hose connection to the air valve. Replacing it at the shop cost me about 175€. Runs like new now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my Equus. Check the air intake system, especially the hose connections around the air supply and throttle body. A loose or cracked hose can definitely trigger the check engine light. Did you notice any idle problems before the light came on?
