Equus intake air temperature sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Hyundai Equus experienced reduced engine power and rough running, with a check engine light indicating an issue with the intake air temperature sensor. The problem was likely due to a faulty sensor, which can affect engine performance. It was suggested to confirm the sensor's functionality using an OBD2 scanner or have it checked by professionals. Replacing the defective sensor resolved the issue, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't been monitoring the intake air temperature specifically. Where would I typically find that information? Is it something I can check with a regular OBD2 scanner, or would I need more specialized equipment?

You should be able to access the intake air temperature readings via live data on a standard OBD2 scanner. However, considering the symptoms and error code, I'd lean towards confirming the sensor's functionality at a workshop. It's likely a defective intake air temperature sensor. In my Saab's case, replacing the sensor resolved the issue. It might be best to let professionals diagnose and replace it to be sure.

Okay, I appreciate the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right - it was a defective intake air temperature sensor. They replaced it for 155€. Everything's running smoothly again now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Hello! That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. The check engine light and reduced power were almost identical symptoms. My issue turned out to be related to the temperature reading as well, although in my case, it was the coolant temperature sensor. Has the temperature reading of the intake air seemed off at all?
