Equus Uneven Running Jerking
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Equus with a gasoline engine is experiencing uneven running and jerking during acceleration, accompanied by a check engine light and fault code. Possible causes suggested include a fuel pump issue or a vacuum leak. However, advice from another owner with similar symptoms points to an exhaust leak, particularly around the manifolds and catalytic converter, as a potential cause. After inspection, an exhaust leak was confirmed and repaired, resolving the issues.

Thanks. Were your symptoms identical, specifically the jerking under acceleration? Did a leak also trigger a similar fault code and check engine light?

Yes, all the symptoms were the same. The jerking was most noticeable at lower speeds. I'd strongly advise having a shop pressure test the exhaust system. It might save you from chasing fuel pump or misfire issues.

I appreciate the help. I had the exhaust system inspected, and a leak was found. The repair cost 265€, and it resolved all the issues. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

I had similar symptoms in my Equus. Check for exhaust leaks, especially around the manifolds and catalytic converter. A leak can cause misfires and rough running, triggering the check engine light. Have you checked your spark plugs and air filter recently?
