EQV Transmission Control Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2021 EQV is experiencing transmission issues, including grinding noises and slipping, potentially due to a faulty transmission control module within the automotive ECU. The transmission control module is responsible for managing the transmission's operations, and defects in this unit can lead to shifting problems. A workshop diagnosis confirmed the defective control unit, and replacing it resolved the issue, restoring smooth shifting.

Yeah, exactly that! Grinding and slipping sometimes, and it's often slow to respond to the paddle shifters. What exactly is an automotive ECU?

The automotive ECU is the Engine Control Unit, basically the car's brain. The transmission control unit is a part of it that's dedicated to managing the transmission. If that specific control unit is defective, it will cause transmission problems. I'd suggest getting a transmission diagnosis done at a workshop. They can check the error codes and confirm if it's the control unit. If it is, replacement is probably the only fix.

Thanks a lot for the help! I took it to a workshop and after the transmission diagnosis, they confirmed the control unit was defective. Cost me around 1000€ to replace, but it's shifting smoothly now. Much appreciated!

That sounds rough. I've got an EQV as well, and I had some similar transmission problems a while back. The gearbox was acting up and the error memory was full. Are you getting any grinding noises or slipping when it shifts? It could be an automotive ECU issue, specifically with the transmission control module. Basically, that control module is the computer that tells your transmission what to do. If it's faulty, it can cause all sorts of shifting weirdness.
