Escape Oxygen Sensor Error

Hey, I've got a perplexing issue with my 2008 Ford Escape with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the computer says it's an oxygen sensor error. Plus, I'm burning way more gas than usual, which sucks with these prices. I checked the sensor's cable and plug, didn't see anything obvious, but I think that's it. Anyone else run into this?

I had almost the same problem in my Escape. The O2 sensor can cause a lot of issues. Check the wiring closely. A bad connection can throw everything off, like a bad light switch flickering.

Thanks! When you had the same problem, was it the exact same symptoms – check engine light, oxygen sensor error, and increased fuel consumption? Was it the cable or plug connection? How did you figure it out?

Yep, same symptoms. I messed with it for too long, then got tired of it and took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a faulty connection and a worn-out sensor. If you aren't sure, I'd recommend doing the same.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice to get it checked out. I went to my local workshop. Turns out the cable to the oxygen sensor was defective and needed replacement, and the sensor itself was bad too. Total repair cost was 95€, which seems fair.
