Thanks! Can you be more specific about where the crack was and how you found it? I've looked at the accessible parts of the intake hose, but I don't see anything obvious yet.

Okay, from memory, it was on the underside of the hose, near where it connects to the intake manifold. Really hard to see unless you're looking for it. I just wiggled the hose around while the engine was idling and listened for changes in the hissing sound. Honestly, just take it to a trusted workshop. Those guys will find the leak super quick and probably save you a ton of time and stress. Could be a split in the intake manifold too.

Thanks for the help! I took my Eseries to a workshop, and it was a leak in the intake hose. The total repair cost was about 100€, which I think is reasonable.

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Eseries, though it's an older model. That hissing sound is a dead giveaway. Check your intake hoses, especially the one connecting to the air filter box. The check engine light came on, and I was scratching my head for days. Turned out to be a tiny crack in the hose. Felt like a total idiot when I found it!
