Espace AC failure
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Renault Espace's air conditioning system has stopped working, with error codes indicating a fault in the refrigerant compressor. The symptoms include the AC not cooling, the system not activating, and a dashboard warning light. Potential causes could be a defective AC control unit or a refrigerant leak, which might require specialized equipment to detect. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the compressor, suggesting a possible repair cost around 1000€.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't specifically checked for leaks myself. Would a simple visual inspection be enough to spot a refrigerant leak, or does it require specialized equipment?

A visual inspection might reveal a big leak, but often they're slow and hard to detect. My issue was similar, and in the end, the workshop confirmed a compressor failure. I ended up paying around 1000€ for the repair.

Appreciate the confirmation. I'll take it to a trusted workshop for diagnostics and repair. Sounds like I should mentally prepare for a similar bill. Thanks again!

I had very similar issues with my Espace. AC stopped blowing cold, warning lights, the works. Did you check for refrigerant leaks? Sometimes a small leak can cause the compressor to shut down to protect itself.
