Espace climate control blower motor issue

Afternoon. My 2006 Renault Espace (gasoline engine) is playing up. The climate control blower motor's dead – won't kick in at any speed. I've got 183226 km on the clock. I'm suspecting the AUC (Auto Recirculation) sensor. It's basically like a BMW AUC sensor, detecting pollutants/odors and adjusting the air recirculation. I read a faulty one can shut down the blower entirely. Has anyone seen this before on these? I can't find much specific to the Espace. Any pointers where to start digging, beyond checking the fuses?

Yup, had similar gremlins in my old Scenic. The AUC sensor's plug and wiring are prime suspects. Give 'em a proper wiggle and see if the blower flickers to life. Connector corrosion loves to cause havoc. And yeah, a dead sensor can definitely kill the blower. I'd hit the plug and wires first, before condemning the sensor itself. Good luck!

I was focusing on the sensor itself and wondering how to test it, but probing around the connector is a lot easier. Any hints on where to find decent wiring diagrams for these things? I'm struggling to locate the exact connector location, and I want to avoid stabbing random wires with my multimeter.

Definitely connection first! Sensors rarely die outright. The diagrams are tricky to find without the official Renault service manual. Honestly, for the connector location and a proper test procedure, it might be worth a quick visit to a workshop. They'll pinpoint it fast. The cost for fixing the sensor will probably be around 95€.

Thanks, you were spot on! It was the connector. Gave it a clean and a wiggle and the blower sprang back to life. I feel a bit daft for not checking that first, but I was too focused on the sensor itself. Thanks for saving me a bunch of time and money!
