Espace Glow Plug Fault

My 2006 Renault Espace diesel, with 240083 km, has a persistent glow plug issue. The preheating lamp stays on, and error memory confirms a glow plug fault. I suspect a defective glow plug is causing incomplete combustion. Thoughts?

The symptoms strongly suggest a faulty glow plug. Have you noticed decreased fuel efficiency or difficulty starting, especially in cold? Did you check the glow plug relay, or are you only focused on the plugs? A failing relay can mimic defective glow plugs.

Thanks. I have noticed a slight decrease in fuel efficiency, and starting is a bit labored. I haven't checked the relay, focusing on the plugs, assuming the simplest solution. Where's the glow plug relay located on the Espace?

Given the decreased fuel efficiency and labored starting, glow plugs are likely the issue. The relay is often in the engine bay's electrical box; check your manual. Checking the relay is wise, but glow plug replacement is likely. Accessing the glow plugs may be complex, a workshop may be best.

Understood. I'll take it to the workshop since I lack the time. They quoted 440€, which seems reasonable. Thanks again.
