Estima Rear Window Heating Issue

I own a 2011 Toyota Estima with a gasoline engine. The rear window heating is not functional. I am also seeing an error stored and the windshield heating doesn't work as usual. The vehicle currently has 24710 km. Could a heavily discharged or defective battery cause this?

I had a similar problem with my Estima's window demister. Did you check the fuses? Also, what's the battery voltage when the engine is off?

I have not checked the fuses yet. I will do that immediately. Where are the relevant fuses located? I will also check the battery voltage. What voltage should I be looking for?

The fuses are in the engine compartment and under the dashboard, check the manual to be sure. Regarding voltage, anything below 12.4V indicates a potential issue. In my case, the battery was indeed the culprit, but I would advise a workshop to perform a diagnostic check, because it might be other things, like a defective wire.

Thank you for the advice. I had the battery checked, and you were correct. It was heavily discharged and defective. After replacing the battery and clearing the error memory, the rear window heating now functions correctly. The total repair cost was 290€.
