Evalia diesel particulate filter issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2016 Nissan Evalia experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, potentially due to a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF). The issue may stem from a clogged DPF or failed regeneration, especially given the vehicle's high mileage and frequent short trips. The recommended solution is to have the DPF checked by a workshop, which may lead to replacement if it's confirmed to be defective.

Thanks for the quick reply. Vehicle inspection was about a year ago, but I drive mostly short distances, so regeneration might be the problem. Is it best to get the filter checked or replaced?

Given the symptoms and mileage, I'd say it's time to get the DPF properly checked. If regeneration isn't working and it's clogged, replacement might be the only option. A workshop should be able to confirm.

Thanks! I took it to a workshop. Turns out the diesel particulate filter was indeed defective and needed replacing. Cost me 1550€.

EVALIA

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Evalia. When was the last time you had a vehicle inspection? Could be DPF regeneration is failing, or it's clogged.
