Evalia IAT Sensor Issue

Hey, my 2010 Nissan Evalia with a gasoline engine is throwing some codes. The check engine light is on, and I'm experiencing reduced engine power and rough running. Hooked up my diagnostic tool and it's showing an error related to the intake air temperature sensor. Mileage is at 213066 km. Seems like a defective IAT sensor, any thoughts?

Sounds plausible. What kind of temperature reading are you getting from the sensor when the engine is cold vs. warmed up? An intake air temperature (IAT) sensor measures the temperature of the air entering the engine. This data is needed to calculate air density and adjust the fuel mixture.

I haven't checked the exact temperature readings yet. Where exactly could I find this temperature reading using my diagnostic tool? Should the reading be the same as the ambient temperature when the engine is cold?

Yes, the reading should closely match ambient temperature when the engine is cold. If it's way off, that pretty much confirms the sensor is faulty. Honestly, considering the symptoms and code, and unless you are very comfortable with car diagnostics, you might be best off having a workshop take a look.

Thanks for the input. I did end up taking it to a workshop. Turns out the IAT sensor was indeed defective. They replaced it, and all is well. Cost me 155€ including the sensor and labor.
