Evalia transmission oil temperature sensor

Anyone seen this? My 2016 Nissan Evalia diesel is acting up. Engine light's on, feels like it's stuck in limp mode. Sometimes it slips gears or shifts rough, especially when it's cold. Getting a transmission oil temperature sensor error. Could low oil cause this?

Had similar issues on my old Citroen. Same symptoms – limp mode, engine light. Was also showing a transmission temperature sensor fault. Did you check your gearbox oil level? That was the culprit for me.

Interesting. How critical was the level when you checked it on your Citroen? Just a little low, or practically empty?

It wasn't bone dry, but definitely low enough to cause problems. Enough to trigger the sensor. Worth a check, but might be best to get a workshop to have a look.

Thanks. You were right. Workshop found the oil level low, topped it up, and replaced the sensor while they were at it. Cost 365€. Seems to have fixed the issue.
