Piston slap wasn't on my radar. Pre-ignition is a concern. Can you elaborate on what you learned about that?

Right, well, for my Peugeot, it turned out to be more complex than just a simple fix I could do myself. Honestly, after a bit of research and experiencing the same frustrations with the jerking, I took it straight to a workshop. They were able to diagnose it properly. I would suggest you also get a professional opinion.

Appreciate the input. Took your advice and brought it in. Diagnosis confirmed deposits in the combustion chamber. Repair cost 425€. Thanks again.

Oh my, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 307, although the symptoms weren't quite as pronounced. Did you check for anything else, like piston slap? I’m no expert, but I recall someone mentioning pre-ignition issues when I was digging around trying to fix my car.
