Evanda Uneven Engine Jerking Acceleration

Good day. I am experiencing an issue with my 2003 Chevrolet Evanda, equipped with a gasoline engine. The engine is running unevenly, and the check engine light is illuminated. There is an error stored in the error memory, and the car exhibits jerking when accelerating. The car has 113332 km. I have already replaced the air filter and spark plugs, but the problem persists. Could a faulty ignition coil or perhaps the fuel injectors be the cause?

Summary of the thread

The 2003 Chevrolet Evanda experienced uneven engine performance and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. Despite replacing the air filter and spark plugs, the issue persisted. A potential cause suggested was a faulty ignition coil or fuel injectors, but a user recommended checking for exhaust leaks. Upon inspection at a workshop, an exhaust leak was identified and repaired, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Evanda. Rough idle and jerking acceleration sound familiar. Did you check for any leaks in the exhaust system? A small crack can cause havoc with the engine's performance, especially with the check engine light on.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have not specifically checked for exhaust leaks. Is this a common issue with the Evanda, and would a leak manifest with the symptoms I am experiencing? Where should I be looking precisely?

While not exclusive to the Evanda, exhaust leaks can definitely cause those symptoms. The sensors are very sensitive. Given the error code and the rough running, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get the exhaust system pressure-tested. They will find the leak quickly. It is safer to let experienced technicians handle the exhaust system.

I appreciate the advice. I took the Evanda to a local workshop as you suggested. It turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system, as you suspected. The repair cost 265€. Thank you for your help!
