Excursion Battery Draining

Hey, I've got a 2005 Ford Excursion with a diesel engine that's giving me fits. The battery keeps draining. I'm getting error messages in the speedometer, the lights are weak and flickering, and the error memory has codes stored. Plus, the battery is super weak when starting. I'm thinking it might be a defective battery sensor?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series. Battery kept dying on me. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections? That was the culprit in my case, causing a parasitic draw.

Yeah, I cleaned the battery terminals, but the problem remains. How did you figure out it was a parasitic draw? Did you have similar symptoms?

The symptoms were pretty much the same. A dead battery every other day, plus some weird electrical glitches. I didn't figure out the parasitic draw myself. After checking all the usual suspects I took it to a workshop. In your case, since you suspect the battery sensor and the symptoms are so pronounced, it's probably best to get it checked out by a professional. Could save you a lot of headaches.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out it WAS the battery sensor, just like I suspected. Cost me 315€ to get it fixed. Appreciate the help!
