Excursion Scorched Intake Manifold
Summary of the thread
The 2006 Ford Excursion diesel is experiencing issues such as jerking on acceleration, error codes, a check engine light, reduced power, stalling at idle, rough running, and a strong acrid exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the intake manifold, possibly due to scorching. The suggested solution is to check for manifold pressure and potential vacuum leaks around the intake manifold gasket. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis confirmed a defective intake manifold due to scorching, leading to necessary repairs.

Thanks! By manifold pressure, do you mean checking for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold gasket? And yes, the exhaust smell is unusually strong, almost acrid. Did you also experience the strong smell?

Yep, that acrid smell points to the same thing I had. I'd say it's almost certain that's your issue. Time to visit a shop; this sounds like a scorched intake manifold. Seriously, don't delay, it'll only get worse.

Sounds rough, man. I had similar issues on my Excursion – same symptoms more or less. Check your manifold pressure; that was my first clue. Could be an air intake or gasket leak messing with your engine performance. Is the exhaust smell really strong?
