Expedition erratic transmission shifting

My 2015 Ford Expedition with a gasoline engine is having transmission issues at 102,000 km. Shifts are erratic, the indicator light is on, and it sometimes won't shift. It even went into emergency mode. Could it be the transmission oil?

I had similar shifting issues with my Expedition. It could be a transmission problem. Is your battery in good condition? Undervoltage can cause weird electronic issues.

Undervoltage, really? How would that affect the transmission? Would replacing the battery solve these transmission problems?

Yes, low voltage can cause shifting problems. The transmission control unit needs stable voltage. A new battery might help, but your transmission oil might be worn out too. I'd get a professional opinion.

Thanks for the advice! The shop confirmed worn automatic transmission oil AND an undervoltage issue. They replaced the oil, checked the electrical system, and fixed a grounding issue. Cost 240€, but now it shifts perfectly!
