The gear selection display in speedometer is without function, and there is an error stored. Is this similar to what you experienced?

Yep, that's exactly what mine was doing! The error in the memory is probably the control unit. My mechanic said the same, and the defective control unit was the root cause. You should take it to a reliable workshop.

I appreciate your help. Based on your recommendation, I had the car examined by a specialist. They confirmed the control unit was defective, as you suggested. The repair cost came out to be 1000€. The issue is now resolved.

Oh, wow, that sounds rough! I have an Explorer as well, and I had something similar happen last year. The gear shift was all messed up, and the display was going crazy. Was it completely dead, or just acting erratically?
