Falcon oxygen sensor heater fault

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2014 Ford Falcon (gasoline engine). The check engine light keeps popping up, and the error memory indicates a fault with the oxygen sensor heater. I've noticed a significant increase in fuel consumption. I've already checked the basics – visually inspected the sensor and wiring for obvious damage – but haven't found anything conclusive. Is there anything else I should be looking at before throwing parts at it?

That sounds familiar! I had a similar headache with my old Renault Megane. The error message pointed to the O2 sensor too. Have you checked the sensor's plug connection? I remember reading that a faulty connection can cause similar issues.

Thanks for the suggestion! When you say plug connection, are you referring to corrosion or a loose connection? Or is there something specific I should be looking for?

Corrosion was indeed the culprit in my case. I cleaned the contacts with some contact cleaner, and that sorted it out for a while. But honestly, it kept coming back, so eventually, I caved and took it to a workshop. They confirmed the sensor itself was failing and replaced it. Save yourself the hassle and get it checked professionally.

Thanks for the advice. I inspected the plug connection and it was as good as new. It seems a trip to the mechanic is unavoidable. At least I have an idea of what they'll be looking for - the faulty sensor itself or the cable or plug connection of the component. I've just had it confirmed at the workshop. I need a replacement sensor, all in it's 95€. I'll let you know when the job is done!
