Fiat 124 Air Intake Leak

I'm experiencing some issues with my 2016 Fiat 124, gasoline engine, 175958 km on the clock. I suspect an air intake system leak. I've noticed higher fuel consumption, the check engine light is on, and there's a loud hissing sound when accelerating. I'm thinking it's likely a vacuum hose leak. I've checked the air filter, but that seems fine. Any ideas where to focus next, before I start pulling things apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Fiat 124 owner suspects an air intake system leak due to higher fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound when accelerating. The likely cause is identified as a vacuum hose leak, possibly around the throttle body or intake manifold. Suggestions include checking for brittle or cracked hoses and considering a smoke test at a workshop for precise leak detection. Ultimately, a workshop confirms a leaking intake hose, replaces it, and resolves the issue.

Hissing plus check engine light? Sounds like a decent-sized vacuum leak, alright. Any rough idling or stalling? Check around the throttle body and intake manifold. Sometimes those hoses get brittle and crack. It's a pretty common issue. Also, give those hoses a good wiggle while the engine's running and listen for changes in the hissing.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check those areas specifically. If it is a cracked hose, is there a way to confirm the leak's location precisely? I'd prefer to avoid replacing every single hose if possible. I heard something about leak detection spray, is that useful?

Leak detection spray works okay, but honestly, with that mileage and those symptoms, you're probably chasing a brittle hose anyway. At that point, it's beyond my shade-tree skills. Get it smoke-tested at a shop. They'll find it quick.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a leaking intake hose and replaced it. Total cost was 100€. Symptoms are gone, and the fuel consumption is back to normal. Thanks again!
