Fiat 500 automatic transmission issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Fiat 500 is experiencing transmission issues, with warning lights indicating a problem with the transmission oil temperature sensor. The car sometimes enters emergency mode, accompanied by slippage and grinding noises, particularly when warmed up. The likely causes are a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor and low gearbox oil. Replacing the sensor and topping up the oil resolved the issue.

Yes! It's worse when it's warmed up. Did you also get the error code for the transmission oil temperature sensor?

Yeah, that's exactly what happened to mine. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the sensor. They also checked the oil level just to be sure. Get it checked out; it’s probably a faulty sensor.

Thanks! A mechanic found a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor and low gearbox oil, just like you said. Replacing the sensor and adding oil fixed it! Cost me 365€.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my 500. Was it mostly when the car was hot?
