Fiat 500 BUS Communication Errors
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Fiat 500 is experiencing random error messages, flashing lights, and intermittent failures in the audio and navigation systems, with a scan revealing BUS communication errors. The issue is suspected to be caused by a bad connection, particularly at the grounding points or a loose BUS cable. The problem was resolved by re-seating the BUS connector at a workshop, which cleared the errors and restored normal function.

Grounding points, noted, will check. As for the failing systems, it mostly is audio/nav related stuff, but it's not consistent. Sometimes it's fine for days, then suddenly it goes bonkers. Could a flaky connection really cause all this?

Yeah, a dodgy BUS connection can definitely wreak havoc like that. The fact it's intermittent and affecting multiple systems points to a central comms issue. I'd say get it checked at a workshop.

I took it to a local shop, and you nailed it - loose BUS cable. They re-seated the connector, cleared the codes, and it's running perfectly. Cost me 155€.

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Have you checked the main grounding points for corrosion? Might be worth a look before you chase down more expensive gremlins. Is it always the same systems that fail?
