Fiat 500 check engine light water sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Fiat 500 diesel is experiencing an intermittent check engine light, stored error code, and occasional rough running. The error code points to a potential issue with the water sensor, possibly due to a defective cable or plug. It is suggested to visually inspect the sensor and wiring for damage or corrosion. Scheduling a workshop appointment for diagnosis and potential sensor replacement is recommended.

The error code specifies the water sensor. Where on the wiring should I focus, and how can I test the sensor without special equipment?

My fault was hard to trace. I suggest you go to your local mechanic. The repair shouldn't be more than 95€.

I'll schedule a workshop appointment for diagnosis and probable water sensor replacement. Thanks!

I had a similar malfunction indicator issue with my 500. Was the error code specifically pointing to the water sensor? Have you tried visually inspecting the sensor and its wiring harness for damage or corrosion? A car sensor issue can cause all sorts of problems.
