Fiat 500 Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Fiat 500 with a gasoline engine and 221,857 km has a cruise control issue where the dashboard light doesn't illuminate, and an error is stored. The fuses were checked and found to be fine. A potential cause could be a faulty brake light switch, as it might disable the cruise control if the car mistakenly detects the brakes as always engaged. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a defective cable connection to the cruise control, which was resolved at a workshop.

Thanks, I'll check the brake lights. If they're working, what's the next most likely cause?

If the brake lights are fine, it could be a speed sensor, but chasing electrical issues is a pain. After the brake light switch on my Astra, I took it to a workshop. They found a faulty connection. I'd recommend getting it checked by a professional.

Thanks for the advice. I took the Fiat to a workshop, and it was a defective cable connection to the cruise control. The repair was 95€. Your input helped.

That's frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old 2012 Opel Astra. Did you check your brake lights? On my Astra, a faulty brake light switch was the problem. The car thought the brakes were always on, disabling the cruise control. Might be worth a look.
