Fiat 500 Diesel Preheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Fiat 500 diesel is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp not turning off, the check engine light being on, and smoking during acceleration. The suspected cause is a faulty glow control unit or possibly a loose cable. A diagnostic test is recommended to accurately identify the problem, which ultimately confirmed the glow control unit as the issue. Replacing the unit resolved the problem, restoring the vehicle's performance.

A diagnostic test? Interesting. What readings did you get when you ran yours? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses.

The diagnostic test showed a defective heating element. I'd suggest proceeding with caution and consulting a workshop. These components are nuanced, and it's better to be safe.

Thanks for the advice! It WAS the glow control unit. I replaced it for 95€ and it's running smoothly. That diagnostic test tip was spot on!

I had similar symptoms on my Fiat 500. Before replacing parts, have you considered a diagnostic test? The issue might not be as straightforward as it seems.
