Fiat 500 Electric Low Brake Fluid Spongy Pedal
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Fiat 500 Electric is experiencing consistently low brake fluid levels and a spongy brake pedal. Despite no visible leaks, the issue could be related to worn brake pads or a more serious problem within the brake system. The spongy pedal suggests air in the system or an internal leak, possibly from the master cylinder. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected at a workshop, where it was confirmed to be due to worn brake pads and a leaking master cylinder, both of which were addressed.

Thanks for the insight! The pedal feedback is more spongy than hard. Does that give you any more clues about what the problem might be? Also, do you remember what the issue with your Saab ended up being?

Spongy pedal definitely points towards air in the system or internal leak. With the Saab, the master cylinder was the culprit. Best get it to a workshop before it gets worse; brakes are not something to gamble with.

I took the Fiat to a workshop, and you were spot on! It turned out to be a combination of worn brake pads and a slightly leaking master cylinder. After a fluid replacement, brake inspection, and new pads, the total repair cost was 480€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. Brake fluid was disappearing without any visible leaks. It could be worn pads, yes, but it might also be something else. Was the feedback from the pedal spongy or hard?
