Fiat Argo Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Fiat Argo with a gasoline engine is experiencing overheating issues, with the engine taking a long time to reach operating temperature. The suspected cause is a defective thermostat cooling circuit motor, possibly due to a defective map thermostat. A warped thermostat housing is also considered a potential issue. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked at a workshop to confirm the diagnosis, which ultimately revealed a defective thermostat as the cause.

It's got 44242 km on the clock. I haven't noticed any coolant leaks, so the level seems fine. If it is the housing, is that a bigger job than just replacing the thermostat?

Yeah, a warped housing can cause similar symptoms. Replacing the housing is a bit more involved, but honestly, with those symptoms and mileage, a defective map thermostat is the most likely cause. Still, I'd get it checked at a workshop to be 100% sure before throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop, and you nailed it – defective thermostat. Cost me about 350€ all in, but at least it's sorted.

Sounds like a thermostat issue alright. How many kilometers are on it? If it’s the thermostat housing, sometimes they warp and cause problems even if the thermostat itself is okay. Has the coolant level dropped at all?
