Fiat Bravo engine stalling reduced power
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Fiat Bravo with a diesel engine experienced stalling at idle and reduced power, accompanied by a check engine light. The suspected cause was a defective fuel volume regulator, but a failing high-pressure pump was also considered. After a workshop diagnosis, the issue was confirmed to be a defective fuel volume regulator, requiring the replacement of the high-pressure pump, which resolved the problem.

Yes, that's exactly how it feels. Sensors haven't been checked yet. What specifically should I be looking for regarding the high-pressure pump or related components?

Think of the high-pressure pump as the heart of your fuel system. If it's failing, it can't supply the fuel needed, especially at idle. It's likely the fuel volume regulator on the pump itself. You'll probably need a workshop to confirm. I had to replace mine, and the issue disappeared immediately.

Thanks for the insight. Took it to the workshop; diagnosis confirmed a defective fuel volume regulator, necessitating replacement of the high-pressure pump. Repair cost amounted to 1510€. Issue resolved.

I had a similar issue with my Fiat Bravo – though I can't recall the exact year. Check engine light, stalling... Does it feel like the engine is starving for fuel, like a runner hitting a wall? It might be the high-pressure pump. Have you checked the car sensors?
