Fiat Bravo NOx Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Fiat Bravo is experiencing a check engine light due to a NOx sensor error, potentially linked to an exhaust leak. The issue could stem from a bad cable or plug connection. After consulting a workshop, a defective plug was identified as the cause, aligning with the initial suspicion and estimated repair cost.

I haven't checked the air intake or fuel injectors, I've been focusing on the NOx sensor cable and plug. The issue is constant, regardless of engine temperature. Could a faulty catalytic converter directly trigger the NOx sensor error, or is it more likely a consequence of another problem with the air-fuel ratio?

The catalytic converter problem was definitely linked to my check engine light. But since you have an exhaust leak, it might be the sensor itself. I'd take it to a workshop to get it checked out.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop and they found a defective plug, just like you said. The cost was exactly as estimated.

I drive a Fiat Bravo too! I had similar check engine light issues. It turned out to be the air-fuel ratio messing with the catalytic converter readings. Have you checked your air intake or fuel injectors? That could throw off the NOx sensor readings too. Does it only happen when the engine is cold?
