Fiat Ducato engine jerks when accelerating
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Fiat Ducato with a gasoline engine experiences jerking during acceleration, accompanied by a check engine light, whistling noise, hissing, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and reduced engine power. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the turbo boost pressure sensor or air intake system. It is recommended to inspect the intake manifold and hoses for leaks and have the turbo boost pressure sensor tested by a professional workshop. The problem was identified as a defective cable connection to the turbo boost pressure sensor, and a repair at a workshop is planned.

Thank you for your reply. I have not checked the air intake system thoroughly. Where exactly should I look for these leaks, and how can I test the turbo boost pressure sensor?

Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on the air intake system but I had the same problem and that's what my mechanic found. I suggest checking the intake manifold and all related hoses. Regarding testing the sensor, it's best to take it to a workshop. They have the tools and expertise to diagnose it properly. In my case the final repair cost was 95€.

Thank you very much for the advice! It was indeed a defective cable connection to the turbo boost pressure sensor. I'll have it repaired at a workshop.

Hello, I also own a Fiat Ducato. These symptoms sound familiar. It looks like a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Have you checked the air intake system for leaks? A faulty turbo system can cause similar issues.
