Fiat Fiorino belt tensioner failure

I'm having a weird issue with my 2008 Fiat Fiorino diesel. It's got about 94,842 km on the clock. I think the belt tensioner is failing because the belt-handover no longer works. I suspect it's a defective belt bringer/handover itself. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I had a similar problem with my Fiorino. Check the idler pulley as well. A worn idler pulley can cause belt squeal and affect engine performance, putting extra strain on the belt tensioner. Is the serpentine belt itself in good condition?

Yes, it was the tensioner. Replacing the tensioner and serpentine belt fixed it for me. But as a precaution I would take it to the workshop.

Thanks a lot! I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was the belt tensioner and they also replaced the serpentine belt. Cost me 455€, but now it's running smoothly again!
